Makinde Urges Oyo State Police Cadets to Be Exemplary Ambassadors

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has called on cadets of Oyo State origin in the Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, to uphold the values of integrity and professionalism as they embark on their careers in law enforcement. He urged them to be responsible, committed, and proactive in their roles as future leaders within the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Governor Makinde welcomed 39 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the course, who were in the state for their mandatory one-month internship. He emphasized the importance of dedication to duty and encouraged them to make a meaningful impact wherever they serve.

“I encourage you all to excel in this career path you have chosen. Be good ambassadors of Oyo State and be agents of positive change wherever you find yourselves,” Makinde said.

The governor took the opportunity to commend the Oyo State Police Command for its unwavering commitment to maintaining security in the state. He expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and other senior officers for their diligence and professionalism.

“To the CP and other senior officers here, I say thank you. You are doing an excellent job keeping Oyo State safe and secure,” he added.

Governor Makinde also acknowledged his past experiences working with outstanding police officers, citing retired Commissioner of Police, Sunday Odukoya, as one of the professionals who contributed to his administration’s security framework.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Johnson Adenola, expressed gratitude to the governor for his continued support. He highlighted that the current intake of cadets from Oyo State was the highest in the history of the academy.

Speaking on behalf of the cadet contingent, ASP Adeniran Theophilus praised Governor Makinde’s developmental efforts and assured him that they would uphold the state’s reputation in their service to the nation.

The event was attended by key government officials, including the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi; Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni; Special Adviser on Security, CP Fatai Owoseni (rtd); and the Executive Adviser, Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, CP Ayodele Sonubi, psc (rtd).
