The Secretary to the immediate former Governor of Oyo State, Olalekan Alli has revealed in a document made available to LiveTimes that the reported missing vehicles are legitimate parting gifts for former Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s principal officers and political appointees.
It would be recalled that Chief Bisi Ilaka, the Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, recently alleged that the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, his commissioners and other top government functionaries went away with many government vehicles, especially new ones bought at the end of 2018 and early this year.
The document which is titled, ‘Exit package for principal officers of government’, the former SSG established that the country’s constitution give rights for governors and their deputies to be entitled to severance packages in office once they are not impeached.
The document added “on the disposal of vehicles to government functionaries and others, the governor can exercise discretionary powers to approve the first right of purchase of their official vehicles and equipment on expiration of their tenure or otherwise at the depreciation values that may be determined by the Board of survey or based on the exercise of discretionary powers of the governor.
The former SSG therefore recommended in the document the Governor Ajimobi’s consideration and approval to make the vehicles and equipments as parting gifts.
The document was signed by the SSG, Director of Admin and Supply and Permanent Secretary for processing.
The second document reveals the states in the South West which include Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Lagos that follows the directive of exit package for principal officers of government and political appointees.
