 From Taiwo Oluwadare, Ibadan

Senator Ajayi Boroffice representing Ondo North senatorial district has stated that the decamp of Governor Olusegun Mimiko from Labour Party (LP) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has give the All Progressive Party (APC) to hold sway in the state.
The lawmaker cum don made this known at a rally called broom revolution by the youth wing of APC as part of effort to drum support for the party and welcoming of over 250 decampees to APC in the senatorial district.
According to him, the development is a blessing to APC as the Labour Party as turned to a rudderless ship without direction adding that coupled with rumpus in the state PDP over leadership shift has started bringing more members to join APC in the state.
Senator Boroffice maintained that the Labour party in the state is poised to be dissolved saying from what he gathered from sources, the party will submit its certificate and flag to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and as a result of disappointment suffered from the governor, the party members are not ready to merge with his new party.
Said he “Labour Party in Ondo state has become a rudderless ship that is going on a wide sea without direction. The implication is that the people will have to leave a sinking boat that is, LP for the only alternative which is APC. Therefore, the development is a blessing to APC in the state only that right now majority of people are civil servants in the state, a reason many of them are yet to declare that they have deserted Mimiko’s administration”.
Senator Boroffice added that come 2015 general election in the state, APC is the political party to beat saying also that APC is taking over the central government and as well over 26 states in the federation.
He further maintained that what is immediate before him is to return back to the senate saying that 2017 is to long to contest for governorship seat in the state.
“I am touring 72 wards in my senatorial district to convince people that I deserve second term in the senate and thank God that reactions from people are favourable that my performance is satisfactory. 2017 is to long to contest for governorship seat in the state” he said.
END.
