Death toll from the three-storey building that collapsed in Papa Ajao area of Mushin Lagos State has reached four, while one lady was rescued alive.
The building, located at Oye Sonuga Street opposite Oye roundabout, Isolo road Mushin went down this afternoon with many being trapped under the rubbles.
Earlier, the sympathisers had rescued two of the occupants (an adult and a child) alive.
Lagos State Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Office, Ibrahim Farinloye told SlyeNews that about four persons have been recovered dead from the rubbles while search and rescue operation continues.
He said one lady has also been rescued alive and taken to hospital for medical attention.
“One female rescued alive, two females and two males recovered dead” he said.
Eyewitness said the building collapsed tilted forward and there was soakaway in front of the structure.
Before part of the building eventually collapsed, it was revealed that the building has been given signs in the last three days specifically Tuesday, but the residents and neighbours ignore the signs
The underground part of the building serves as club, while part of the main structure is being used as residential.
The remains of the building has been demolished while the adjoining house which were perceived affected by the disaster have also been marked for demolition.
Farinloye said “Search and rescue operations conceded after reaching ground zero.
“However Carting away of rubbles and demolition of adjoining building will continue tomorrow by LASEMA”. He said.
