A motorist in Ibadan, Oyo State has cried out after his cars got damaged by adulterated fuel sold by Oando filling station in Eleyele area of the state’s capital.
The motorist, the General Manager of IBEDC in Dugbe power station who is simply identified as Mr. Eniola said his cars got damaged after buying the adulterated fuel which said to be mixed with water in the tank.
Speaking with LiveTimesNG, Mr. Eniola recounted how his two vehicles got damaged within two days after buying the adulterated fuel from the filling station.
He said: “I always fill my cars at Oando filling station at their headquarters at Eleyele. I discovered that on this day after I filled the tank, my car stopped working. I thought it was a natural fault. I parked the car in the filling station. The following day, I brought my second car to the filling station to fill, the same thing happened to the other car. It was then I called the mechanic to check the two cars and I was told it was the fuel that damaged the cars.
“I immediately told the manger of the filling station and he couldn’t deny that the fuel was mix with the water. I wonder how many motorists their vehicles would have got damaged as a result of the development”, Mr. Eniola told our correspondent on phone.
Our correspondent while speaking with the manger of the filling station, Mr. Temitope Amoo, he didn’t deny the allegation but said it was an accidental occurrence. He said he had spoken to the IBEDC manager and promised to repair his damaged cars.
Mr. Amoo said he’s not sure if the adulterated fuel has affected other vehicles because none of them has come to complain. He appealed to general public while he said the filling station has evacuated the adulterated fuel and refilled with clean fuel.
