A lady who visited Brent Mall at Old Ife Road in Ibadan on Friday evening has cried out over staffs’ neglect which almost claimed the lives of her and her family members after they were trapped in supermarket’s elevator.
The lady while speaking with LiveTimesNG narrated how her whole family was trapped in the elevator for 25 minutes which she described as a terrible experience which almost claimed their lives.
She said: “We were in the elevator for over 25 minutes finding no means to get out with members of my family. My husband had to call the photo studio CEO at UM studio for rescue.
“The man quickly went down stairs to inform the concerned staffs and they quickly rushed to the generating set and we immediately left after intervention and we were already suffocating.
“There, we heard a fellow customer revealing to us how the staffs reacted when they heard of our plight. She said the next question she heard was “awon melo lo wa nibe” meaning how many were in the elevator that they were running helter skelter.
“What we heard from fellow customers was amazing. We heard 11 people were trapped like that 2weeks ago. And that 2 years ago a 3 month old baby almost died.
“What will it cost them to put caution at the entrance of the elevator? And you can imagine, no one apologised to us. I was wondering why people ‘s lives are taken for granted there”, the lady revealed.
