Alhaja Abosede Modinat Adedibu, the wife of late strongman of Ibadan politics has said, her new position as South West Regional women’s leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was to honour her late husband, Alhaji Ariyibi Adedibu.
Speaking with Our reporter in her Ibadan home on Tuesday, Adedibu said her husband is renowned for his giant stride in the political party when he was alive.
She said: “though it is true that I’m one of the few politicians who doesn’t jump from one political party to another but I believe I’m honoured with the position because of my late husband’s good works for the party. I remembered when they wanted to announced me, the announcer mentioned that the position is to honour my late husband”.
Speaking on feud between the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and Alhaji Muhammed AbdulRasheed Adeyemi Adebisi popularly known as Olopoenia, Adedibu said Olopoenia is just aggrieved which is normal. She added that the duo were good friends saying it is normal that friends have quarrels some time.
She said: ” They would soon settle their quarrel because the governor has constituted a reconciliation committee to look into what causing the quarrel and this committee has visited Olopoenia to settle it.
“And on issue that Makinde is not having good relationship with party leaders, this is part of what reconciliation committee is doing to end all political disputes in the party. If not the death of governor’s mother, he would have addressed all the problems. What the party leaders asking from the governor is not necessarily money but his recognition. I believe he has realized this and he will settle the whole problems”, she said.
Speaking on feud between former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose and Makinde, Adedibu said: ” what is Gov. Fayose looking for”, she queried.
She said: “Fayose was face of South West PDP when he was Ekiti State Governor and now that people recognize Makinde as present face in the region, Fayose should let him be.
“He should accept the reality and allow Gov. Makinde to hold sway as well. After all, they are friends, I expect Fayose to approach Makinde for dialogue as friends in case he wants anything from him. I learnt he is doing this because of his affiliation with Senator Abiodun Olujimi. But he should realize that she also has her own political clout having served as his former deputy governor and serving senator from the state. Fayose has to honour two of them because a winner can’t take all.
Adedibu however vowed that with the present people’s outcry over hunger and deaths in the country, people will not hesitate to vote APC out come 2023 and settle for PDP. She said the reason is that, people have done the comparison especially the youths and have seen that APC government can’t offer them anything good.
Also, there is a news that one of her daughter is contesting for local government election in the state. While making clarification, she said the lady in question is a daughter to her son-in-law, who is Alhaji Akeem Adedibu, a younger brother to her late husband. She said the reason for the confusion is that, her daughter who is presently the S.A to Liaising officer to the state governor in Abuja who is Hajarat Adetola Adedibu is bearing same initial with the lady who is, Zainab Tolani Adedibu.
