The presiding Bishop of Maranatha Lord Cometh Ministries Int’l, Rt. Rev. Samuel Olumakinde Alawode has bemoaned the pathetic situation of the country for its inability to cater for its teeming youths.
The cleric while celebrating eleventh year of his consecration as a Bishop in his church on Friday condemned the leadership in the country for their nonchalant attitude to the wellbeing of youths in the country.
According to him, the future looks bleak for Nigerian youths while he expressed fear because average Nigerian youth does not love the country again, a reason they are finding means to travel abroad to seek greener pastures.
He said: “I’m unhappy with the present youths generation. I’m sad, afraid and disappointed. I’m sad because, this nation does not seem to have plans for her youths. Sad because, many young people are struggling to survive in a land flowing with milk and honey. So sad, because of the increasing number of youth unemployment. So sad because, of great minds and talents are untapped, unutilized and underdeveloped. Sad to see increasing number of youths in drug addiction, suicide and crimes.
“Those who studied or lived abroad do not want to come back home and those at home are desperate to check out of the country. And youths who destiny entrust leadership upon have failed woefully, thereby making it harder for more youths to also be entrusted with authority because thinking of majority youths today is money , more money and money at all cost and funs”, he lamented.
The cleric who charged the youths on good conducts to salvage the bleak future also condemned present executive arm of government for not respecting rule of law.
According to Alawode, court rulings disregarded by the government parastatals call for serious concern saying this is necessary so as not to dent our image in the league of nations.
The man of God also berated government over increasing rate of violence and crimes in country while also lamenting the worrisome state of electricity power sector which is continuously getting worse.
He maintained that if Nigeria can solve the problems of power sector, it will become the pride of the black race. He however asked the Federal Government to declare state of emergency in the sector while fishing out the saboteurs and open to foreign investors and exploit all types of alternative power supply especially house to house solar power.
The cleric also charged the present government to find lasting solutions to issue of restructuring saying it is an agitation all over the years and in recent times that cannot be pushed under the carpet. He said this will enable the country to fashion out own peculiar system that can be put into consideration in the country’s peculiar sociopolitical situation.
