A Nigerian woman, Safe Na’andak Pankyes, has tragically passed away just five months after making a thought-provoking Facebook post about death and remembrance.
Safe, who married her husband, Pankyes Galak, on March 30, 2024, shared a post on September 4, 2024, expressing how people who hadn’t impacted her life would eventually share her pictures on social media after she was gone. The message, originally authored by someone identified as “Sir Billy,” urged people to celebrate and appreciate others while they are still alive.
Her post read:

“A day will come when my pictures will fly all over social media tagged RIP. Both those I’ve impacted directly or indirectly will shed natural and artificial tears. Only I will be buried down in the dark, shallow, breathless. People who had the opportunity to impact me positively and show love to me but didn’t, will come out making contributions to plan a burial ceremony for me. Please, celebrate me now that I’m alive because when I go down, I wouldn’t be here to see all that you will do when I die.
Thank you once again,
Sir Billy

At the time of her post, there were no signs that she was ill, and the cause of her death remains unclear.
Now, just as she had predicted, friends, family, and loved ones are flooding social media with her pictures and heartfelt tributes, mourning her sudden passing.
