The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council on Sunday alerted the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) not to register a religious group being spearheaded by some group of journalists.
The Union’s position was contained in a statement signed by its Chairman, Ademola Babalola and Secretary, Sola Oladapo respectively.
According to the Union, the National Secretariat of NUJ has directed immediate stoppage of the activities of the group, saying it is capable of Balkanizing the Union if registered by the CAC.
The Union has therefore warned the group to stop parading themselves pending the conclusion of the investigation into allegations bordering on collection of monies under whatever guise from religious bodies.
The NUJ reiterated that the only associations recognized by it are the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
