Ahead of the February 28, 2015 governorship election in the country, a group of grassroot politicians in Oke Ogun zone of Oyo state has pledge their support and commitment to ensuring the emergence of Senator Rashidi Ladoja as the winner of the state
The group, which insist that the Accord Party candidate is the best option of all the five contestants also appeal to the people of the state particularly Oke Ogun axis as well as all eligible registered voters to ensure victory for the former governor who have demonstrated true love for the masses in the past
The group, Ladoja Campaign Organisation gave the assurance while addressing a press conference at its zonal office in Ago-Are, Atisbo local government area of the state
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, deputy coordinator for the zone recalled that the motive behind the support for the former governor is not unconnected to the reality that, his short stint between 2003 and 2007 witnessed an unprecedented transformation and development that has remained unmatched in the history of the state.
The former Majority leader, of the state house of assembly said: “you will recall that his government between 2003 – 2007 witnessed an unprecedented transformation and development in the state. Roads were tarred while new ones were opened and constructed. Teachers salary were paid as at when due while promotion of civil servant in the state followed due process
“We humbly call on the populace especially students and parents, all workers in the public and private sectors of the economy, indeed all the eligible registered voters in Oyo state to rally round Senator Adewolu Rashidi Ladoja the Accord Party governorship candidate for Oyo state, to ensure victory for him who demonstrated true love for the masses in the past. We want to bring it on a clean note that all the Oke Ogun people are in full support for the Accord Party”
According to the group who claimed to have carefully followed political events in the state, the state has slipped into an abyss that needs redemption
Adejumobi said: “that Oyo state has slipped into the abyss is no longer news to all careful observers of events in the state in recent past, physical development have been stalled while civil servants no longer enjoy promotions based on merit; school teachers are now promoted based on their local government of origin.
“Tuition fee in government owned higher institutions are arbitrary hiked with no regards to the biting effects of global economic downturn on the parents. Our youths and young graduates remained unemployed; no government hospital is currently running and functioning properly in the state. There is great disparity between workers’ salary in the state compared to other state while salaries are being paid in alphabetical order”
The group however assures that it came up with the decision after wide consultations with family, friends, opinion leaders, students, market women and many other stakeholders adding that “we hereby wish to say it loud and clear that together with our teaming supporters willingly decide to join hands with Accord Party to bring back the glory to our dear state with the help of the Almighty God
