Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Saturday paid tribute to the virtues of the late former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Soji Adagunodo-Oluwatukesi, who passed away a year ago.
Addressing the event attended by Adagunodo’s family members, political associates, and PDP chieftains, Governor Makinde promised to complete the South-West PDP Secretariat project named after the late party stalwart within the next few months.
“I was looking forward to the one-year anniversary and I thought we would open this edifice, but God said no. Within the next one month, I will be coming here every week until the end of August,” Makinde said.
The governor commended Adagunodo’s wife for keeping the family together, noting that it was a testament to how the late politician handled the home front.
Makinde also encouraged Adagunodo’s immediate family and political dynasty to continue participating in the politics of the South-West region, not just in Osun State but also in Oyo State.
In their separate tributes, the Ogun State PDP chairman, Mr. Sikiru Ogundele; PDP South-West Youth Leader, Seyi Bamidele; and the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, all described the late Adagunodo as a patriotic and outstanding leader who served the party diligently.
Speaking on behalf of the Adagunodo family, one of the sons of the deceased, Mr. Soji Adagunodo Jr, expressed gratitude for Governor Makinde’s support to the family since the demise of their beloved father.
The event also included a minute of silence for the soul of the late politician and an inspection of the Adagunodo PDP South-West Secretariat, which was named after him during a commendation service a year ago.
Also in attendance were the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, and the South-West PDP chairman, Chief Kamorudeen Ajisafe.
