Popular radio personality Oriyomi Hamzat has shed light on the personal struggles of the father of late WAEC candidate Kehinde Alade, who tragically died from a stray bullet fired by a police officer in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on May 20, 2025, while Kehinde was on his way to an examination center.
Speaking at a press conference, Hamzat recounted his meeting with the grieving father, revealing that the late student’s mother abandoned the family nine years ago. Since then, the father has singlehandedly raised his children, which, according to him, is why he never remarried.
Hamzat also raised questions about the whereabouts of Kehinde’s mother, suggesting that her presence might have influenced the course of events on that fateful day. He speculated that if she had been present in the vehicle, she could have potentially prevented the situation by advising against reckless driving.
The Oyo State government has since launched an investigation into the tragic shooting.
