The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Prince Albert Abiodun Adeogun has called the people of Osun State to be calm following the Supreme Court judgment on 2018 Osun State governorship election.
According to Adeogun, the PDP members in the state should stay calm despite the theft of their mandate by the conspiracy between the All Progressives Congress (APC)and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.
Adeogun who was a member of the House of Representatives made the call on Wednesday in a press statement issued in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Deputy Governorship candidate said that all the members of PDP should now come together to build not only a virile party but to provide a formidable opposition to those who lost through the ballot but won through judicial process.
“It is a common knowledge that the Supreme Court decision of 5th July 2019 had devastated all the members of the PDP family and a host of others who waited for justice to be done in the September 22, 2018 Governorship election in Osun State in which Osun people voted massively to elect their Governor, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke.
“Unfortunately, the judiciary epitomised by the Supreme Court of justice gave a scripted justice in which judgment was awarded to the APC.
“I am aware of the pain inflicted on almost 260,000 voters who genuinely wanted a change in Osun State endured in the face of persecution by Federal Government Agents and solidly protected their votes with the conviction that their votes will translate to the victory of Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke.
“You are all appreciated for your roles during and after the election and through the long drawn judicial process. Though the judgement was by majority awarded to the APC, the two dissenting Judges without mincing words ruled that the INEC rigged the election for the APC and the cancellation of some polling units were deliberate and designed to achieve the desired end of declaring the APC as the winner of the election. “
He assured that “The struggle to free Osun state has just began and with the continued support of our people, the desired goal of free and prosperous state where rule of law thrives will be achieved.
Adeogun further said that he sympathised with the fallen heroes of the struggle who were maimed, assaulted and killed in the process of freeing Osun State from the shackles of the oppressors.
“My condolences go to the families of the victims and their death will not be in vain. Exceptional gratitude also goes to all who stood by us from the point of filing our petition that culminated into the misjudgment of 5th July 2019.
“Those who stole the peoples mandate and procured judgement to satisfy their continued hold on Osun knew in their heart that they did not deserve to be in government house, the candidate pointed out.
