The governor of the Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele has spoken in regards to the fight to ensure that by the end of January, 2023, all old Naira notes aren’t in the public space.
Godwin Emefiele who was speaking in Abuja where he insisted that there won’t be going back to the deadline stressed that they have gone to the extent of reaching across to areas around the Sambisa forest to swap old Naira notes for the new ones.
The governor of the Apex bank who assured the masses of their efforts to ensure the successful change revealed that it will be completely swapped even before the deadline date, due to the efforts that has been done so far.
In his words… “In areas like Baga, Mongonu, around the Lake Chad Basin, Ngala, Kirawa, on the borders of Cameroon, Chibok, all these are areas around the Sambisa, our agents, our staffs are all there conducting cash swap and cash exchange, old to new currencies”
One will not be wrong to question how these old Naira noted in those terrorists stricken areas will be returned back to the Apex bank, and this could inarguable be a means to facilitate such.
