The two times Deputy Provost for OYSCATECH, Mr Isiaka Olaniyi Adekunle has emerged as the Acting Rector for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.
Speaking at the official handing over held at the College Boardroom, the outgoing Rector, Prof. Gbemiga Adewale expressed appreciation to staff and students for the opportunity to serve them in the last seven years.
He also thanked the College Community for the send forth programme organized in his honour.
Prof. Adewale explained that he had no agenda about who emerges as his successor but it was important for him to hand over to someone.
According to him, “I have no power to appoint Rector but I wrote to the government, notifying them of the expiration of my tenure by July 9, 2019 and I recommended the the two chief lecturers including the deputy rector.
Prof. Adewale revealed that he received a letter this morning from the ministry of education which communicated the appointment of Mr. Isiaka Adekunle to him as the acting Rector.
He further explained that the new acting rector was not among the 29 people that applied for the post of Rectorship.
He hinted that the acting Rector is the most senior among the academic staff and had served as deputy Provost for two terms.
A copy of the hand over note was also given to the Registrar, Mr. Niyi Fehintola who is the Secretary to the Governing Council .
