Over 3,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North have declared their intention to follow the renowned grassroots politician, Hon. Kazeem Alimi, in his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
Hon. Alimi, a strong APC member in Ward 3, Ibadan North Local Government, and a political ally of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Oyo South Senatorial District representative, has decided to return to his former party, the PDP.
The mega defection event was facilitated by the Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Ademola Omotoso, and the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, and coordinated by Governor Seyi Makinde’s ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro who received them into the party and respected politician, Double T.
Present at the meeting were prominent figures, including Hon. Seun Olufade and Mr. Kabiru Alimi, a notable and strong member of the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Majiyagbe group. Also in attendance were Hon. Lanre Ojo ‘Badan, Mrs. Salewa Oyewo, Mrs. Ronke Odusola, the Chairmanship candidate, and all the councillors of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the recently concluded Ibadan North Local Government election.
Otunba Seye Famojuro in his address, advised the defectors not to consider themselves as new members of the PDP but as an integral part of the party. Otunba Seye Famojuro promised that the decamped members will be well-compensated by the party and treated as one family, not as newcomers.
According to Hon. Kazeem Alimi, the formal declaration of the defection will take place in the coming days, and it is expected to be a game changing in the political arena of the state and remarkable mega decamping.
