Alhaja Modinat Abosede Adedibu, the wife of late sage and strongman of Ibadan politics, High Chief Ariyibi Adedibu has reacted to poser from people of Oyo State on who she will support between her two political allies, Gov. Seyi Makinde and Senator Teslim Folarin in the forthcoming Oyo State governorship election.
In an interview with LiveTimesNG in her Molete home on Monday, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South West Women’s leader cleared air that she would support the candidate of his political party in the person of Gov. Seyi Makinde.
Remember that Senator Teslim Folarin is one of the political sons of the late PDP leader in Molete school of politics.
She said, “The issue between Seyi Makinde and Teslim Folarin as my sons is very simple. I’m in PDP. I’ll support only candidate belonging to my political party.
“It is just what happened in Dosunmu family in Lagos. If I support Makinde to win second term in office as governor and I don’t support Teslim, it doesn’t make me Teslim’s enemy.
“Also, there is no enmity between Gbolarumi and I. Our relationship is still cordial and so far he is still in PDP. Also, what happened at the primary election between him and Makinde was a normal politics. Elders in the political party have intervened to settle their differences.
“On issue of insecurity in Oyo State, let’s commend Gov. Makinde for his efforts so far. Makinde is doing is best for providing security personnel like Amotekun, Operation burst with equipments. We should blame Buhari who is doing little or nothing to complement his effort by not curbing banditry and other insecurity threats. At least, there is calmness in the state and relative peace. What we need is, cooperation of people of Oyo State with the state government”.
She also spoke on her role and achievements as women’s leader. She said: “women are Olivia Twists. We want more and as women’s leader, we are doing our best to sensitize our fellow women on PVC.
“We make them know especially the market women on need to get their PVCs as that is their power to choose their preferred candidate. Governor Seyi Makinde is giving us some positions but we are still demanding for at least 35% involvement in his governance right from the ward level”.
Speaking on the passing of late Adedibu 14 years after, Alhaja Adedibu said: “I have missed so many things because Adedibu was fatherly caring, a good husband and a good friend and politically inclined.
Speaking on why Molete ceases to become a Mecca of sort after his death, she said: “Baba Adedibu’s shoe is too big for me. I mean it is difficult to continue his exact role when he was alive.
“You can describe this place as Mecca when Baba Adedibu was alive but only Mecca is ordained by God to continue harbouring large crowd. Frantically speaking, this place is a political institution that has from Crèche to University level and is still functioning for those that need political knowledge. Even, you can come for your PhD here.
“Most sons and daughters of Baba still visit here for advice but not like when the late sage was alive.”, She revealed.
