Oyo 2027: Oseni Denies Link With Group Calling Folarin, Adelabu to Step Down for Him

The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Abasi Oseni, has disowned a publication credited to a shadowy group known as Igba Otun, which allegedly called on Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin and Chief Adelabu Adebayo Adekola to withdraw from the 2027 Oyo State governorship race.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan by his Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, Oseni described the report as “false, malicious and mischievous,” stressing that he had no involvement in its circulation and held both APC leaders in high regard.

“Hon. Oseni has no link with the so-called Igba Otun group and did not commission, endorse, or authorise such divisive publication. This is a clear act of mischief designed by desperate opportunists to create disunity in our party,” the statement read.

The federal lawmaker, who reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, said his political career had been built on integrity, respect for leaders and collaboration with stakeholders. He emphasised that his focus remained on delivering effective representation to his constituents and supporting efforts to reposition the APC in Oyo State.

According to him, Senator Folarin is “an elder brother, political leader and mentor,” while Chief Adelabu is “a younger brother and close friend.”

He further argued that the timing of the propaganda, coming shortly after the APC’s by-election loss, revealed the intention of its sponsors “to weaken rather than strengthen the party.”

Oseni reiterated that he had not declared any governorship ambition, urging party members and the general public to disregard the faceless group, which he described as “mischief makers masquerading as agents of unity.”
