Oyo State Government, through the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun has stated that the present administration in the State is passionate about the health of the citizens of the state through the upgrade of medical facilities in state-owned hospitals across the state.
Mrs Adeosun made this known during a courtesy visit paid to her by the accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCM) to Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital Ibadan, the State Capita led by Professor Peter Ebeigbe.
The Secretary to the State Government, said Governor Seyi Makinde, is committed to put in all that is required to improve the Health Sector of the State, as it is one of the four Cardinal Programmes of the present administration in the State.
Mrs Adeosun urged the team (NPMCN) to be fair in the accreditation process of the Adeoyo Hospital, indicating that irrespective of the outcome of the exercise, the State Government would work with it.
According to the SSG. “We will work on the outcome of your accreditation, such that whether it is in five years, two years or six months, when next you come back, you will observe the improvements based on the recommendations of the report.”
She said that, Ibadan was the Capital of Western Region and first in almost every sector in Nigeria, including the Adeoyo State Hospital being one of the pioneer maternity centers in Nigeria. She noted that the present Government in the State is very interested in Health status of its citizens.
In his remarks, The Chairman of the accreditation Committee (NPMCN). Professor Peter Ebeigbe admonished the State Government to support the outcome of the report from Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital.
