The Oyo State Government has extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late journalist, Ojo Peter, who was recently killed in Ibadan by suspected armed robbers.
Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju, Special Adviser on Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, made the remarks while featuring on the weekly radio programme, ParrotXtra/Ayekooto on Radio, anchored by Ambassador Olayinka Agboola and aired on Splash 105.5 FM, Ibadan.
Ojo Peter, a former Assistant Editor of ParrotXtra Magazine and last with Daily Monitor, was shot dead in the Molete area of Ibadan on August 18, 2025.
Dr. Olanrewaju described the deceased as a hardworking and experienced media professional, recalling his early career at the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, where he personally worked with and mentored him.
“When he started his career, I was one of those who guided him. He joined us from Monitor Newspaper as a reporter, and we built a good working relationship. His death is truly painful,” Olanrewaju said.
He emphasized that despite notable improvements in security across Oyo State over the past five years, the state government remains committed to strengthening security measures.
The governor’s aide also assured that the state would support the late journalist’s family, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the loss.
