In a bold step toward strengthening the education sector, the Oyo State Government has trained over 7,000 newly recruited teachers on the effective use of digital technology for enhanced classroom delivery and learning outcomes across the state.
Speaking at the induction programme held at Ansaruddeen High School, Saki, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Olubukola Oladipo, emphasized the central role of technology in modern education.
She described the training as a crucial foundation for the teachers’ professional journey, urging participants to maximize the opportunity and embrace digital tools as essential instruments for 21st-century teaching.
According to her, “The training and induction programme should be seen as a vital first step in your journey of shaping the future of students through education.”
Mrs. Oladipo also reminded the participants of the mandatory registration requirement with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), stressing that only registered teachers are recognized as certified professionals.
While commending Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering commitment to quality education in the state, she cautioned the new teachers against acts of intolerance, dishonesty, laziness, discrimination, partiality, and prejudice — behaviors she said could tarnish their professional integrity.
In his lecture, Dr. Fawole Olalekan of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) highlighted the transformative power of digital learning in improving teaching efficiency and student engagement. He noted that the adoption of digital tools could significantly enhance teachers’ productivity and classroom performance.
The newly inducted teachers expressed their appreciation to Governor Makinde for his continued investment in education and for approving the training and induction exercise for the second time in four years — a move they described as evidence of the government’s dedication to teacher development and educational excellence.
