A lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebayo Babajide, had on Saturday lanched a foundation named’ Adebayo Babajide Foundation’, saying that the foundation will alliviate the suffering of the mases.
The foundation launch took place at Trans Amusement Park, located in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.
While speaking with journalists during the launching of the foundation, the lawmaker noted that empowerment programs are effective alternatives to combat poverty, adding that the foundation was meant to eradicate poverty among the people of the state and Nigeria at large.
According to him, ‘Adebayo Babajide Foundation was founded on15th of June, 2019, although the foundation has been existing before, but the official unveiling and the commencement of the documented and effective activities starts on day of launch, adding: “the foundation vision and mission will be a paramount task, because we are ready to transform lives of the people and reach out to less privilege as many as possible.
“We launched this foundation to generate something to support the people in order to alleviate their suffering, so I am sure that with this foundation, some Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) will still come in to support.”
Hon. Babajide emphasised that the major target of the foundation are the widows, the youth, the women, and all the less privilege in the society, noting that there will be a plan on health care and environmental cleanliness, whereby the foundation will partner with some NGOs for effective programs like ‘kick against malaria’, and ‘keep your environment clean’.
While feeding question on what the Oyo State 9th assembly will do to eradicate poverty in the state, the lawmaker pointed out that three bills is currently in front the state house of assembly to cub the suffering of the masses which are creation of law enforcement agency to curb the corruption in the state through the establishment of anti-graft agency, giving free education to students in the state, and distribution of bursary allowance to all students of the state who are indigenes as it is been practiced in the developed countries.
He however called on different organisations, groups and individuals for assistance, in lightening up the project which will undoubtedly have positive impact on the children, youth, women, community, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Also speaking at the event was the speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin who noted that Adebayo Babajide Foundation will touch lives of many people in the state and Nigeria at large, adding that the foundation will make a good difference by impacting on the lives of the people by alleviating their suffering.
Dignitaries at the event include, some members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honorable Segun Olaleye, Mr. Oyesesan Oyegbola, Mr Alao Akinyinka, Koleoso Taoreed, Mr. Isaac Akhigbe, politician, and well wishers.
