…..Urges Fatai Buhari To Drop Ambition
A social-political group in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State, Oke-Ogun Progressive Group (OOPN), has endorsed the candidacy of the former Chairman of Iseyin local government, Iseyin, Alhaji Saheed Alaran for Oyo North Senatorial District.
The group made this known on Monday, after its monthly meeting which was held at Saki, Saki West local Government where they called on the people of the region to support the former Chairman who they said has had an unbroken record of good leadership and care for his people.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of OOPN, Mr Olayiwola Olasunkanmi and his Secretary, Mr Bambi Abiodun, the group’s meeting was focused on how to mobilize delegates towards the party primary and consequently the main election after Alaran must have gotten the party’s ticket.
Members of the group maintained that it has become a general knowledge that it has come to the turn of Oke-Ogun to present a viable candidate that can win the senatorial seat, as the incumbent Senator, Farsi Buhari from the Ogbomoso part of the senatorial district has already enjoyed two terms in office.
The claimed that the ten local government areas in Oke-Ogun have the capacity and voting strength to win election for a candidate of their own while calling on Senator Buhari to leave the stage while the ovation is loudest.
They said “Our position to canvass for honourable Saheed Adejare Yusuff Alaran is not hinged on his manifesto and tested ability alone, but to ensure justice, equity, balancing and peace in our party, the table must be allowed to turn around.
“Theredore group has today resolved to not only endorse the candidacy of Alhaji Saheed Alaran, but also appeal to the incumbent Senator, Fatai Buhari to step down and rest after his two terms at the red chamber.
“He has tried his best, though many still believe he could have done better, he should leave the stage while the ovation is loudest, he cannot enjoy what he used to enjoy whereby votes of Oke-Ogun will cover for his loss from Ogbomoso and give him victory like it happened in 2015 and 2019.
“Alaran is the candidate that majority of our people across Oke-Ogun are supporting, he has been tested and found capable of delivering good representation at the Senate.”
OOPN members informed journalists that the group has commenced consultations with leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) across the ten local government areas of Oke-Ogun and the three local government areas of Ogbomoso, to rally support for the former local government Chairman.
