The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) New Era has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on his re-election, describing it the will of God.
The OPC New Era, in a congratulatory message signed by its Vice National President, Comrade Adeoola Adeagbo, and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, also described Makinde’s victory as deserving.
The OPC New Era, however, commended the good people of Oyo State for giving the governor their mandate for the second term.
The Yoruba socio – cultural group noted that the outcome of the March 18 gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections in Oyo State has shown clearly that Oyo State people are now more politically conscious.
“People of the state desire good governance and are now more politically conscious and ready to do necessary things to continue to enjoy good governance”, the group added.
The OPC, however, used the opportunity to advise Governor Makinde to continue with the good works that earned him a second term, as Oyo people are expecting to enjoy more dividends of democracy in the much talked about Omi tuntun 2.0.
The group further advised the governor not to embark on vendetta against those who worked against him before and during the election, as the result of the last Saturday’s election has shown that “only God enthrones kings”.
According to the OPC New Era, Governor Makinde should also do away with people associated with thuggery and violence in his second term in order to have a more peaceful Oyo State.
The OPC added, “We can all see that thugs or violence did not win the last Saturday’s election for the governor. The people of Oyo State voluntarily massive voted for him because of his performance”.
