Oyo Police Roll Out Tight Security Ahead of Ladoja’s Coronation as 44th Olubadan

The Oyo State Police Command has announced the implementation of enhanced security measures in preparation for the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, FNSE, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday, September 25, by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the Command assured residents and guests of maximum safety before, during, and after the historic ceremony at the iconic Mapo Hall.

According to the statement, the Command, working in collaboration with sister security agencies, has deployed strategies that include confidence-building patrols, intelligence-led stop-and-search operations, and heightened surveillance across Oyo State. Security attention will be concentrated on key areas such as entry and exit routes, public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan.

The Command further confirmed that some major routes leading to Mapo Hall would be closed to the public from 7:00 a.m. on Friday to ease movement and maintain order around the coronation venue. Affected routes include Beere Junction towards Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction towards Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction towards Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction towards Mapo Hall.

Residents were urged to plan alternative routes ahead of time to avoid inconveniences. The police also issued a strong warning against unauthorized processions, disorderly conduct, or any activity capable of disrupting public peace.

“The Command implores the cooperation of the public in adhering to all directives and in fostering a peaceful atmosphere throughout this momentous occasion,” the statement read.

The Command expressed optimism that the coronation would be a peaceful celebration that reflects Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.
