The Senator-elect in Oyo South Senatorial District, Oloye Sharafadeen Alli has paid a condolence visit to plank sellers in Bodija market over recent inferno that gutted the market.
Recalled no fewer than 50 shops were affected, while goods and machines worth over N100 million were destroyed when fire gutted the Bodija plank market on Tuesday evening.
Victims of the inferno recounted their material losses as one person was injured in the fire that started at about 4:00p.m which was aided by a strong wind when it was about to rain.
Speaking with the Senator-elect, the chairman of Oyo State Plank Seller Association in the market, Waliyu Aderoju thanked God for safety of traders in the market noting that no fewer than 200 people were at the scene of fire incident and no death was recorded except one person injured and now getting better in the hospital.
Aderoju added that doors belonging customers and multimillion naira worth of planks were burnt in the fire incident.
Also speaking, Baale of the market, Alh. Sulaiman Inaolaji praised the Senator-elect for his usual good gestures in coming to aides of victims of incidents like this.
Meanwhile, Oloye Sharafadeen Alli promises to compensate the plank sellers over the unfortunate fire incident while he prayed for quick recovery from their losses.
Elder Sunday Akinpelu, the Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bodija thanked the Senator-elect for his kind gesture to visit the traders and promise to compensate them.
He noted that Oloye Sharafadeen Alli will surely fulfill his promise noting that he has been doing well for the traders in the market and one of them was the generating set donated for the traders to power the market.
