The 3-day Oyo Women Entrepreneurship Summit (OWES) organised by ARA Foundation at the Jogor Event Centre, Ibadan has been rounded up.
The programme was tagged; ‘ Women Rise Up. ‘
Participants at the event commended the convener of the programme for her initiative, enlightenment and the empowerment programme for women.
The grand finale featured seminars, enrolment of women in various vocations which include, Tie and Dye, Hair Dressing and Poultry Farming as well as distributions of food items to participants.
Others include scholarship awards to Students from the University of Ibadan, Federal Institute of Statistics, Lead City University and presentation of cash gift to the less privileged, widows and distribution of fertilizers to Association of Women Farmers in Oyo State.
Speaking at the event, The Iyaloja of Ibadan Land, Chief Mrs. Oyinlola Iswal Abiola Ameringun, who spoke on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship and the Problem of Women Entrepreneur in Nigeria, explained that “The global goal of a sustainable future for all cannot be achieved until women and young people gain control over their own lives”.
She also revealed that innovation, risk taking, vision and organization skills are the key elements of entrepreneurship.
The convener of Oyo Women Entrepreneurship Summit and ARA Foundation, Princess, Aderonke Rahmat Adedoja explained that ARA Foundation would not relent in assisting the less privileged, widows, orphan and women.
She therefore, called on women to utilize all the lessons learnt during the 3-day Oyo State Entrepreneurship Summit.
The participants also appreciate the leadership strength and support ARA Foundation has given to them in the last 3-day.
Some of the students from University of Ibadan, Lead City University and Federal Institute of Statistics were offered scholarships while she promised to pay the school fees of some of the students who were in attendance during the in next academic session.
Dr. Mrs. Adewunmi Rachael, CEO, Taking Nigeria Limited and Women Leader National Association of Nigerian Traders, FCT Chapter advised women to fight for their rights during the next general election. She added that women must be ready to support any woman vying for political positions.
Princess Aderonke Ramat Adedoja expressed her sincere appreciation to all the participants.
She revealed that ARA Foundation will soon unveil more programmes that would impact the people positively.
Merit Awards were also presented to different categories of people including; Popoola Zainab Dayo, student of University of Ibadan as the Youth Role Model of the Year, the Iyaloja of Ibadan Land, Chief Mrs. Oyinlola Iswal Abiola Ameringun and the Women Leader National Association of Nigerian Traders, FCT chapter, Dr. Mrs. Racheal Adewumi by ARA Foundation.
