
The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs, Alhaji Onike Rahman.
The sad incident occurred on Thursday, September 11, 2025, shortly after he delivered a lecture on campus. According to a condolence message signed by the institution’s Registrar, Mr. R.F.A. Adeniji, Rahman became indisposed, was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, but was later pronounced dead by medical experts.
Announcing the loss, the Rector of the institution, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, described Rahman as a highly resourceful administrator, prolific writer, public speaker, respected activist, and diligent staff member. He commiserated with the Registry Department, students, colleagues, friends, and family of the deceased, praying that Almighty Allah grants him Aljanah Firdaus.
Rahman, who joined the services of OYSCATECH as Administrative Officer II in 2008, rose through the ranks to become Deputy Registrar. He also served as a congregation representative on the Governing Council of the institution.
An alumnus of Saint Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo; University of Ibadan; and Olivet High School, Oyo, Rahman was widely respected for his commitment to education and student welfare.
According to the family, his remains will be laid to rest in Oyo town on Friday, September 12, 2025, with the body departing Igboora at 7:00 a.m.
The management, staff, and students of OYSCATECH said he would be deeply missed for his dedication, humility, and service to the institution.
