Police Gives Updates on Lady Found Dead in Abuja Hotel Room

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a woman, identified as Aladi Johnson, who was found lifeless in a hotel room in Abuja.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the deceased, also known as Tessy and originally from Benue State, checked into the hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on June 16, accompanied by an unidentified man.

The man reportedly left the hotel before staff discovered the woman unconscious with her hands tied behind her back during routine room service. She was later confirmed dead after a medical evaluation.

In response to a viral video showing the young woman lying motionless in the room, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ajao Adewale, ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

“Preliminary findings indicate the victim checked in with a male companion who later exited the premises alone,” SP Adeh stated. “Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect.”

The police have called for calm while assuring the public that justice will be pursued diligently. Meanwhile, the Commissioner urged young women to be cautious in their social engagements, especially with unfamiliar individuals, and to always inform trusted persons of their whereabouts.

He also appealed to hotel operators to enforce stricter security measures, such as verifying guests’ identities and installing functional surveillance systems to assist in both prevention and investigation of crimes.

The FCT Police Command extended condolences to the family of the deceased and reiterated its commitment to ensuring the perpetrator(s) of the crime are brought to justice.
