It’s no cause for celebration – Floyd’s family
The four Police officers who aided or participated in the murder of the black American, George Floyd have been arrested.
According to reports, each of them face up to 40 years in prison for second degree murder.
However George Floyd’s family through their lawyer said this is no cause for celebration as it is just an arrest, not a conviction.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison who announced the arrest and charges of the four police officers said that these development are in the interest of justice.
Thomas Lane and Alexander Kueng helped to restrain Floyd. Tou Thao who stood and watched was not initially charged.
Lane 37, Kueng 26, and Thao 34 are now charged with aiding and abetting second degree murder. George Floyd’s death has sparked alot of protests in the United States which has been violent in some areas.
Donald Trump has condemned the murder of George Floyd but made it clear the law and order must be maintained in areas where violence protests have led to looting of shops.
