The highly anticipated mega decamping rally in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo State, will hold tomorrow, Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
The rally, which was originally scheduled for July 17, 2024, was set to welcome the defection of Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s loyalists from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The rally was earlier postponed to honour the passing of Hon. (Prince) Musiliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi Jagaban, who represented the Ibadan North Federal Constituency. Hon. Akinremi Jagaban, a revered political icon and star politician, sadly passed away on July 10, 2024, in Abuja and was laid to rest the following day.
In his announcement, Hon. Kazeem Alimi, a PDP stalwart in Ibadan North, who expressed his condolences reminded the party stalwarts and decampees to come out enmasse during the decamping rally.
The mega rally is now scheduled to tomorrow, July 24, 2024, at 4 pm prompt, at the PDP Local Government meeting venue, Salvation Army Primary School, Yemetu.
According to Hon. Alimi, the event will be a significant moment for the PDP in Oyo State, as the party looks to consolidate its hold on the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The high-profile APC defectors will be received by the Deputy National Chairman of PDP (South), Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, as well as other prominent party leaders, including Otunba Seye Famojuro, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Olufade, former Deputy Governor Barrister Azeem Gbolarumi, the Chairman of the PDP Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Adelore, and the Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Ademola Omotoso.
The event is expected to be graced by the presence of His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State and the PDP’s leader in the state. This development is seen as a significant boost for the PDP, as the party aims to strengthen its position in the state’s political arena.
