Rising Nollywood Actress Anjola Dies After Battle With Ovarian Cancer

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of fast-rising actress Anjola, who reportedly passed away on Friday after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Her death was confirmed by a colleague, who spoke with Instablog, revealing that the actress had been diagnosed with the illness in 2021 and had sought treatment abroad.

“She was diagnosed with the ailment sometime in 2021. She went to Dubai for chemotherapy for about six months and returned cancer-free,” the colleague said.

However, in recent weeks, Anjola began to experience new health complications.

“For the past month, she had been complaining of frequent headaches and memory loss. We took her to the hospital where she was told she needed a special glass and medication, which would cost around N500,000. I assured her we didn’t need to make a public appeal; we could handle it among ourselves,” the colleague added.

Tragically, despite seeming stable just a day earlier, Anjola’s condition worsened suddenly.

“Yesterday, she was very fine, but around 7 PM she complained of a headache again and was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, she passed away there,” the source concluded.

Tributes have since poured in on social media from fans and colleagues mourning the loss of the promising talent.
