Confusion has trailed the scheduled visit of Presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to the city of Ibadan, Oyo State Capital on Wednesday.
According to directorate of Atiku Campaign Organization, Olaniyi Stephen on Tuesday evening, the meeting has been postponed.
The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public that the proposed ‘Town Hall Meeting’ Organized by Southwest Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization,to be held at Jogor Center has been postponed indefinitely. The New date will be announced later”.
The visit of the former Vice President was slated for a crucial meeting with the Zonal executive council of the party as a strategic move to reposition the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
However, sources from the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde insist the event will be held at Ogunlesi hall, UCH in Ibadan on Wednesday.
It was gathered that Governor Seyi Makinde did not agree with the earlier choice of Jogor centre as venue for the PDP zonal meeting.
