…our governors are under a seige – PDP
Just few hours to the gubernatorial election in Edo state, the public is anxious on who will handle the affairs of the state for the next four years.
The battle for power which is majorly between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will see one its candidates emerge winner on Saturday, September 19,2020.
Security agents have flooded the state to provide adequate security for the electorates. Observers and political faithfuls are on ground to witness the historic event with state governors also available to give moral support to their various candidates.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed its readiness for the elections, giving instructions to the electorates on what is expected of them at the polling station.
According to the commission, the use of face mask is mandatory for all voters before they can be allowed into the polling unit.
Also, government has ordered restriction of movement during the period of the exercise to control any mishap.
As tension arises, PDP has accused security agencies in the state of harassing its governors from other states who came to observe the election and has since pleaded to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to look into the issue as the lives of its members are at risk.
In a public address by PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, he revealed that security agents have surrounded the hotel where Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and other governors lodged. He maintained that if APC state governors can be allowed into the state, then PDP governors must also have such liberty too.
The heat is between PDP candidate who is seeking for a second term in office, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his APC opponent, Ize Iyamu.
