Two persons, a Nigerian and a Chinese who were suspected to be carriers of Coronavirus have been quarantined for the dreaded disease in Oyo State in the last one month, Newspeakonline authoritatively reported.
However, it was gathered that both have been released after they tested negative to the deadly virus.
A source at the Ministry of Health in the state confirmed that the Nigerian arrived from China and showed some symptoms similar to those of coronavirus when the private hospital where he was being treated reported his case. He was immediately quarantined. But he later tested negative to the virus. He was released after being quarantined for four days. Surveillance is still being carried out on him and his neighbourhood.
The second case involved a Chinese medical practitioner who was brought in by a Chinese factory in Ibadan, the state capital. He was said to also show similar symptoms. The Management of the factory was said to have quarantined him immediately to prevent a spread of the virus. But when he was tested, he was found to have fever.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashiru Bello said the state was in good stead to prevent and manage any case of the deadly virus. The ministry is also working with officials of government at land borders to prevent and manage any coronavirus case detected.
Nigeria has confirmed the first coronavirus case in Lagos. The patient is an Italian who arrived the country a few days ago for a short business visit.
