The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has blamed the Government of United Kingdom for saboteur behind bringing the former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke to face her corruption charges in Nigeria.
The acting Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu stated this on Wednesday during an official visit to EFCC, Ibadan zonal office.
According to Magu, the Nigeria’s anti-graft agency is suspecting saboteur from them because they have not come up with genuine offense against her saying EFCC has come up with new strategy to ensure she is repatriated to Nigeria to face her corruption charges.
He said: “for the former Petroleum Minister, I’m telling you we will bring her down this year. We must get her because UK government have no reason for still keeping her there. They have not taken her to court and it is fifth year now. Why are they on one matter for five years?”, Magu queries.
He continued: “her case is straightforward, a financial offense. If they don’t have any evidence, they should repatriate her to Nigeria to face her trials here.
“Definitely, we are suspecting saboteur from our foreign partners because I don’t know why they are protecting her and they had yet to expose whatever offense she has done. They are only lying on evidence we have discovered. They are not serious people but we are still working together to help each other.
“We have already employed another strategy to bring her back to Nigeria but I don’t have to reveal the strategy”, Magu disclosed.
