The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose as asked the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde to use dialogue and persuasion instead of escalating tensions in the state.
Fayose in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday evening by his spokesperson, Lere Adeyinka, said calling for arrest of Yoruba activist and warlord, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho will rather escalate the crisis.
Recalled that Igboho had made good his threat on Friday by displacing the Seriki Fulani from Igangan in Ibarapa, in the state after reported cases of killings and kidnappings of indigenes.
Speaking on the tension in Oyo State, Fayise said: “Gov. Seyi Makinde should rather use dialogue and persuasion instead of escalating tensions in his own State by calling for the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo.
“If FG and some Governors could ‘dialogue’ with Boko Haram terrorists, Gov. Makinde calling all stakeholders to a round-table discussion will not be misplaced action.
“Any attempt to arrest anyone will cause serious threats to the fragile peace in the West and the nation. Above all any unchecked escalation may lead to a state of emergency.”
