Dr. Akinyemi Ogunkeyede, a lecturer at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, exchanged marital vows with his beloved, Sarah Ogunkeyede, on Saturday. The traditional wedding ceremony took place at the bride’s family residence in the Somolu area of Lagos State.

The colorful event drew dignitaries from various sectors, including Permanent Secretaries from Oyo State, General Managers, Directors, and close family members. Guests were treated to musical performances, heartfelt blessings for the newlyweds, and vibrant celebrations.

Dr. Ogunkeyede currently serves as the Acting Director of the Centre for Waste Management and Sustainable Resources (CWMSR) at FUPRE. His bride, Mrs. Sarah Ogunkeyede, is an Itsekiri native of Delta State and works with the Delta State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

Speaking at the occasion, the Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni, who is also the groom’s elder sister, offered marital advice to the couple. She emphasized the importance of patience, tolerance, and mutual understanding in sustaining a happy union, discouraging the involvement of third parties in resolving marital issues.

“There is nothing wrong with inter-tribal marriage,” she noted. “What truly matters are the individuals involved. Sarah is a well-raised young woman from a disciplined background, and we love her.”

The joyous celebration continued with a grand reception held at a popular event center in Lagos, where family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to honor the couple and share in their happiness.
