A real estate agent, identified as Mr. Richard Ekbebu, has been found dead after what social-media video content claims was a fraudulent land sale orchestrated by an alleged fake landowner, according to an account posted by online commentator Verydarkman.
In a video published by Verydarkman, the incident is dated to June–July 2025 and involves an alleged fraudster named Mr. George Idumage — who is also referred to in the video as “Pastor Brandy.” The narrator says Mr. George approached Mr. Richard to market a parcel of land, providing what he claimed were complete and valid documents. Mr. Richard, described in the video as the vice-president of real estate agents in Bayosa, agreed to help find a buyer.
Verydarkman’s account states that in July prospective buyers inspected the property and wired ₦9 million directly to Mr. George’s account. The buyers allegedly insisted on receiving the title documents immediately; Mr. George reportedly told them the papers were in Port Harcourt and left with Mr. Richard’s assurance he would retrieve them. Subsequent efforts to obtain the documents, the video says, failed.
The buyers later reported the matter to police after they could neither retrieve the title documents nor their money. The video claims that when officers arrested Mr. George, he told investigators he had transferred the money to Mr. Richard — who then became unreachable. Mr. Richard’s family reported him missing, and searches led to the discovery of his body in bushland, the video alleges.
Verydarkman says investigators recovered a slipper at the scene and used a vehicle plate number to trace transactions and movements. The video further alleges that money transfers from Mr. George’s account were traced to several recipients, including a woman who has since been arrested. Verydarkman adds that Mr. George was arrested at an airport and that the matter is currently with the Bayasa State Police Command.
The online commentator praised the police response and singled out the state commissioner of police, named in the video as CP Alonyenu Francis Idu, for quick investigative work. Verydarkman urged caution, described the case as a grim example of how land-related fraud can escalate, and offered condolences to Mr. Richard’s family.
No official police statement was included in the video itself; the account provided by Verydarkman frames the information as what is “currently being handled by the police.” Journalists and members of the public are advised to await formal confirmation from the Bayasa State Police Command for verified details on arrests, charges and the status of the criminal investigation.
