VIDEOS: Olowofela bids farewell to Chief Jacob Adelolu Apepe (Baba Amuludun)

The town of Omi Adio celebrared on Friday one of its most beloved sons, Chief Jacob Adelolu Apepe, fondly known as Baba Amuludun, who was laid to rest amid tributes, prayers, and a deep sense of loss. Born on May 28, 1947, Chief Apepe passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 77.

In his tribute, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela wrote: “A respected elder, cultural icon, and community leader, Baba Amuludun was celebrated not only for his wisdom and service but also for his lifelong dedication to peace, tradition, and unity. Until his passing, he served as a member of the Olomi-In-Council and held the esteemed traditional title of Ekerin Balogun of Omi Adio”.

His burial on May 23, 2025, was marked by a gathering of dignitaries, traditional rulers, community members, and admirers who came to pay their final respects. Tributes poured in recalling his generosity, humor, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.

Throughout his lifetime, Baba Amuludun embodied the spirit of unity and wisdom. Known for his oratory skill and gentle disposition, he was often called upon to mediate disputes, advise leaders, and mentor younger generations.

He leaves behind a legacy of honor, service, and love for the people of Omi Adio and beyond.

As drums fell silent and the final rites were performed, one thing was clear — Baba Amuludun may have departed this world, but his impact will continue to resonate for generations to come.
