The former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Alh. Hazeem Gbolarumi has revealed that contrary to people’s notion, the party elders including him are not fighting the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Gbolarumi in a YouTube video obtained by LiveTimesNG, said they are only expressing their dissatisfaction over the governor’s preference for Omituntun group over the real members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Remember that party leaders in Oyo PDP recently formed a Unity Forum as a breakaway faction in the political party.
Also, the Oyo State youth leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Asiwaju Adekola Adeola recently revealed that old SPD wing in the political party who are close to the state governor, are in control of party affairs.
Adeoye while speaking on a radio program on Monday, Gbangbalassata on Splash FM which was anchored by Abiodun Adewole, he said the PDP party members who were from old Accord Party, AD, PDP and other political parties don’t have say in the party affairs except the ones from old Social Democratic Party (SDP).
According to Adeoye, this was what prompted the party leaders to rejuvenate the political party but they were misconstrued.
Meanwhile in this interview on YouTube, Gbolarumi said: “We used PDP platform to vote for Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019 and if there’s no political party, there can’t be government. Although, independent candidate is allowed by the law but in this instance, he used political party to get people’s mandate.
“Many PDP members had nothing to do during eight years government of APC in the state. But it is disheartening that after these members worked hard to get votes for you, we started hearing Omituntun that whoever that don’t align with Omituntun can’t partake in your government and we didn’t use Omituntun to vote in 2019.
“This made PDP elders to come together and we wrote a letter to the governor and he agreed to constitute elders’ forum but we are yet to hear anything. He also said he would constitute reconciliation committee which was headed by Dr. Saka Balogun, still nothing was heard.
“The Saraki committee was also constituted, nothing was heard. Former Governor Oyinlola also set up committee to resolve the crisis, nothing still came out of it.
It was after these, that the elders concluded that we should leave Makinde with his Omituntun and government and we should forge ahead in rebuilding the political party. This doesn’t mean that we are fighting the governor but we are only distancing ourselves from his government.
