‘We Know You Will Not Let Yorubas Down,” ICIR Felicitates Alaafin

Members of International Council for Ifa Religion (ICIR) have congratulated the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade who was coronated on Saturday as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

The Council urged him to use all means available to protect the sanctity of Yoruba’s cultural and traditional values, so as to uphold the global respect the tribe deserves, saying the last Alaafin, late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi did his best to uphold Yoruba tradition against all odds.

ICIR in a congratulatory letter, signed by the President, Dr. Fayemi Fatunde FAKAYODE, sent to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, advised Oba Abimbola to be wary of a particular traditional ruler in the South-West, who has been parading himself as ‘an emir,’ as according to them, the latter is an interloper in Yoruba’s monarchical ascension process.

“The members of ICIR are overwhelmed with joy over the successful installation of Oba Owoade 1, Elewuetu as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom.

“Your coming after late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is a reflection of Eledumare’s plan to continue to use Oyo towards the emancipation of traditional Yoruba beliefs and religion.

“Kabiyesi, kindly stay away from one interloper who was accidentally picked as a Yoruba traditional ruler but turned himself to ’emir’ and has been attacking our tradition.

“We pledge our support towards protecting the throne and core Yoruba values that will continue to uphold the respect accorded our tradition and culture across the globe,” ICIR hinted.
