Amidst joy and celebration, Ayomikun Alabi, daughter of renowned gospel singer Tope Alabi, has tied the knot with her beloved in a beautiful ceremony. The wedding, graced by prominent personalities such as actress Funke Akindele and gospel ministers including Bidemi Olaoba, BBO, and Woli Agba, was a star-studded affair filled with fun and fanfare.
However, one lingering question remains: Where is Ayomikun’s biological father, Mayegun Olaoye?
Back in 2020, Olaoye made headlines when he publicly claimed to be Ayomikun’s father, sparking a wave of controversy. His claim was met with strong denial from Ayomikun, who firmly stated that the only father she knows is Soji Alabi, Tope Alabi’s husband of over two decades.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, Ayomikun acknowledged that she had heard about Olaoye but had never met him. She emphasized that her mother had never prevented a relationship between them but rather, it was Olaoye who failed to make any efforts to connect with her over the years.
“I know and will always know that my father is Soji Alabi. I have never met any other man. I cannot blatantly deny Olaoye’s existence because I have heard about him, but I have never had anything to do with him,” Ayomikun stated.
She further explained that her mother even encouraged her to establish contact with Olaoye when she was younger, but he never reached out. She questioned his sudden interest in claiming paternity after 22 years, highlighting his complete absence throughout her childhood, school years, and even her university graduation.
Olaoye had also expressed his displeasure about Ayomikun bearing Soji Alabi’s surname. Responding to this, she dismissed the idea, stating, “How can I bear the surname of someone I have never met? I do not even know his surname. God knows my real father, and everyone knows who my real father is.”
Expressing her frustration, Ayomikun noted that Olaoye had lost any chance of reconciliation when he took the matter to social media instead of seeking a private resolution. She made it clear that if he ever wanted to reach out, their only meeting ground would be in court.
Despite the past controversy, Ayomikun affirmed that her family remains unshaken, adding that Olaoye’s actions only serve as an example of a neglectful father attempting to reclaim a lost relationship through public spectacle.
Now, as Ayomikun embarks on this new chapter in her life, the question remains: Where is Mayegun Olaoye? Why has he remained silent since his public claim? Whatever the case, it appears that for Ayomikun and her family, the matter is settled, and their focus is on moving forward.
