The Commissioner representing Oyo State at the Federal Character Commissioner (FCC), Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela, on Saturday, said serious efforts are ongoing to reconcile aggrieved members of the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ido Local Government to stop the gale of defection.
According to Olowofela, stakeholders and party leaders of the party are already dousing the rising tension in the state.
The former Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology disclosed this shortly after a reconciliatory meeting with the leadership of an APC group under the aegis of ‘Egbe Agba’ at his Omi -Adio country home, Ibadan.
Recalled that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State are aggrieved, citing a lack of internal democracy.
He also called on Nigerians, especially the people of Oyo state to embrace the party’s candidates including its presidential nominee, Bola Tinubu whom he said is capable of fixing Nigeria’s challenges.
Olowofela further urged the APC group to work hard and collectively for the party to emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections in 2023.
While harping on the need for the party to go into the next year’s elections as a united family, the ex-council boss assured that the leadership of the party would sustain the healing process to ensure fairness, justice, and dividends.
He, therefore charged them to reach out to other aggrieved members.
Responding, the group through its leader, Mr. Yekini Adewusi pledged not to only return to the party, but to work for the victory of APC in the council area, promising to appease other aggrieved members.
