EFCC Arrests E-Money for Alleged Naira Abuse and Dollar Spraying

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested popular Lagos socialite, Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, popularly known as E-Money, for allegedly abusing the Nigerian currency and defacing foreign currencies.

Sources confirmed that E-Money was apprehended on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos. According to EFCC insiders, his arrest followed allegations that he sprayed United States dollars at a public event—an act considered a violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.

One official stated, “We arrested E-Money on Monday night for alleged Naira abuse and defacing of U.S. currency. Spraying dollars in public is a breach of the Foreign Exchange Act. He was taken into custody at his Omole home, and investigations are currently underway. He will be charged to court once the probe is concluded.”

Another source revealed that E-Money is being transported to Abuja for further questioning, although they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment when contacted regarding the arrest.
