Girls’ Education, Women Empowerment Crucial For Development – Titilayomi Ahmadu Tasks Alaafin

A female entrepreneur and Founder of Women’s Organization of Resources, Knowledge and Skills (W.O.R.K.S), Mrs Titilayomi Ahmadu has called on the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade to focus on campaigning for girl-child education and women empowerment in Yorubaland.

Ahmadu, who is a member of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho (LAUTECH)’s Governing Council, stressed that girl’s education has positive ripple effects on societal growth.

She said this in a congratulatory message to the new Alaafin of Oyo, who was crowned on Saturday at Oyo town.

In the letter of felicitation, which was made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Tuesday, Titilayomi opined that an educated girl child will grow up to become a mother that will make education for her children a priority.

“While congratulating our revered monarch, the Alaafin of Oyo on the ascension to his forefathers’ throne, I want to implore him to consider the campaign for girl child education and women empowerment a focal cause.

“It is logical to see that an educated girl becomes a good mother that will create means for her female and male children to have better education later in future, this will have ripple effect in societal growth and development of our communities in Yorubaland.”

She called for more efforts towards empowering women, especially widows and those in financial need, so they can assist their husbands in catering for the homes and giving good parentage to their children.

Titilayomi Ahmadu is a Chartered Accountant, entrepreneur and founder Women’s Organisation of Resources, Knowledge and Skills (WORKS) also congratulated Senator Monsurat Sunmonu on her birthday on Wednesday, saying the woman politician has paid her dues in contributing to the development of women in Oyo State.

She urged the celebrant not to relent in giving succor to the needy as taught by the holy books.
