Governor Makinde Mourns Sarkin Sasa, Hails His Leadership and Patriotism

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Katsina, the Sarkin Sasa and chairman of the Council of Arewa Traditional Rulers in the 17 Southern States of Nigeria. The revered leader passed away on Saturday evening at the age of 125.

Describing his death as the end of a significant era, Governor Makinde extended his condolences to Alhaji Katsina’s family and the entire Hausa/Fulani community in Oyo State and Southern Nigeria. He also prayed for the repose of the late leader’s soul.

Reflecting on his relationship with the late Sarkin, the governor noted that they had known each other long before he assumed office, emphasizing that Alhaji Katsina was always supportive and maintained a cordial relationship with him.

“On behalf of the government and people of Oyo State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Hausa/Fulani community over the passing of Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Katsina, the Sarkin Sasa Sardaunan Yamma,” Makinde stated.

He praised the late traditional ruler for his unwavering commitment to leadership and patriotism, highlighting his contributions to peace and unity in Oyo State and beyond.

“Alhaji Katsina was a remarkable leader who served his people with dedication and exemplified true patriotism toward Oyo State and Nigeria. His support for our government was outstanding and commendable,” he added.

The governor concluded by praying for divine mercy on the departed leader, saying, “May Allah SWT grant him Aljanah Firdausi.”
