“…. always be thankful.”
—- Colossians 3:15.
Every attitude problem is a mental problem. It all boils down to how people think, reason and eventually act.
Similar things happen to us, but we judge them differently, depending on our mindsets or thinking pattern.
I was told of a lady who vowed never to attend a church again. Upon seeing her, I expected she would complain of being sexually harassed by the pastor. Far from it, she said the church only gave her 30k out of 150k, when she had accomodation problem! “
“How do you know the church is capable of doing more?” I asked.
She said the church just raised #2M the previous Sunday for a project! The next question you would expect me to ask is, “are you the project?”
Ingratitude is indeed a huge mental problem.
• Why wouldn’t I be grateful for an accident that smashed my phone instead of my head?
• If you’re not yet married, you could be grateful that you’re eligible for marriage.
• You don’t have a job but you can be grateful that you’re a qualified applicant.
• You don’t have a child now but you have a womb and you’re not in the tomb.
• It might be bad right now. Be grateful it is not worse, and with time, it will get better.
• The situation made you lose something; but you could have lost everything.
• We don’t have good roads, but some of us have good cars and many of us good legs.
• Some Nigerians will have to work 5 days to gain 5k. Why should I despise a gift of 5k from anybody at all?
• Some are rich in dollars but their children even in the best schools are dullards. Be grateful for yours in the public schools.
If our attitude is right, we have reasons to be grateful for almost anything.
I thank God for NEPA the day my trousers got torn around my “FCT”, and NEPA did their thing immediately, to save me the embarrassment.
I thank God for death! At least death can help us knockout those we cannot vote out of power.
Few minutes into writing this piece, there was an electric spark in my flat. It claimed about 70% of my bulbs. Quite expensive to replace them, but I wonder why none of my major gadgets packed up. Even if they did, I will still be grateful that it is not my kidney that packed up.
