Residents of Iyin-Ekiti in Ekiti State are celebrating a major milestone as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a federal university in the town. The University of Technology and Environmental Sciences is expected to bring significant educational and economic benefits to the community.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, described the development as a “monumental achievement” and thanked the President, the National Assembly, and the Minister of Education for their roles in making it possible.
In his statement, the traditional ruler specifically acknowledged Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, an illustrious son of Iyin, for his efforts in championing the university’s establishment.
“We are ready to provide a peaceful and supportive environment for the institution, its staff, and students,” Oba Ajakaiye assured, emphasizing that the town has a history of hosting educational institutions.
